FAQ

  • Homesy is a social network for real estate consumers — buyers, sellers, and the real-estate-curious — where you can learn about homes in your neighborhood or anywhere else in real time. It’s like LinkedIn (with a dash of Facebook) — but all about homes and real estate. Not another real estate site: a real estate community.

  • No! We love it when you’re looking. After all, most of us do:)

In fact, despite fewer and fewer of us buying and selling homes — a little over 5M last year — 60M of us seem to have real estate fantasies and go snooping on Zillow. This isn’t really surprising: The average homeowner moves every 7 to 10 years, even if they have a 30 year mortgage, so there’s plenty of reasons for people to engage in a real estate community where they can learn about market conditions, service professionals, and homes for sale regardless of whether they’re in market or just thinking about it.

  • Nope. There are no fees or commissions.

  • Not yet.*

Our app is a Progressive Web App (PWA), and can be found at https://app.homesy.us or by clicking on any of the calls-to-action on our home page (homesy.us).

  • No. Homesy is a real estate community for consumers. If you’re a consumer, Homesy is for you, even if you’re a broker or other real estate service provider!

If you can post your resume on LinkedIn or your photos on Instagram, there’s nothing on the site you wouldn’t be able to do entirely by yourself with just your phone.

That said, we recognize that some users may prefer to work with a marketer or agent, and so we will soon establish a lead program* for agents and influencers to offer their services to help you build your profile or get more attention on Homesy. Feel free to collaborate with anyone you want — but remember that any agent commission agreements you enter into are solely your responsibility.

Interested in advertising or our lead programs? Please let us know via support@homesy.us.

  • We love you! We designed Homesy to be a multiplayer environment, and we hope real estate professionals including brokers, agents, designers, architects, contractors, real estate attorneys or other service providers in real estate, home design, remodeling, renovation, and related professions, will join the community like any other consumer, creating social proof of their knowledge of neighborhoods, homes, and the art of the deal.

We welcome your participation across the platform, with several caveats.

    •  You (or your employees) are only allowed to profile your own home(s) or homes you currently own or reside in, including rental properties. You may comment on and connect to users in the feed, through home profiles, and via dream house postings in the feed. Any user impersonating another user or creating posts or profiles under another user’s name, will be removed from Homesy.

    • Homesy is not a listing site. Overt sales listings and/or pitches may be deleted or removed at management’s sole discretion without notification.

    • Homesy is not a member of any MLS or the National Association of Realtors and any sales or rental agreements made on Homesy are not covered by any MLS or NAR rules. Any commissions are the sole responsibility of those involved.

    • In the near future, Homesy will offer brokers and agents opportunities to develop business pages* through which they will be able to create profiles for and develop connections and relationships on behalf of buyers and sellers. Stay tuned.

  • More and more of us are, including our CEO. No shame there, and in many places, it actually pays to rent. We are currently developing solutions tailored just for renters* but until then, please play nice with everyone else here: owners, buyers, sellers and browsers. We’re just one big happy family.

If you have any difficulty claiming a rental address because others have the same address or your unit isn’t shown, please contact us via support@homesy.us so we can register you by email.

  • It’s on our roadmap.* When we do make home buying possible, it will be because we’ve found a way to drive a safe, low cost, and trusted way to buy directly from other community members or — if you prefer — from brokers.

  • You can’t buy a house on Zillow, Compass, or a local MLS website either!

But Homesy’s not a listings site or a brokerage anyway. It's a modern, social app with the same social superpowers that made Linkedin, Facebook, Spotify, Instagram, Pinterest, Quora, Public.com, OKCupid, Tinder, etc. so central to our lives — except we’re applying them to real estate. On Homesy, you create and own your own content and connect directly to other people about homes and real estate. Again, please note that while we will offer the opportunity to buy houses directly from other Homesies one day, our aim is to grow homeowner data organically to increase trust and transparency in the market.

Interested in direct home sales? Please let us know via support@homesy.us.

  • — Discover homes in more depth and color than any listing.

    — Build a profile of your home, as creative and detailed as you want.

    — Get real time pricing, valuations and estimates from everyone else before you make a deal.

    — Get the truth about neighborhoods, streets, and buildings from the people who live there, with no intermediaries.

    — Find homes the instant they go on the market

    — Give your profile and listing real reach with a wide population of buyers.

    — Find the best brokers, contractors, and mortgage lenders near you.

    — Build and share a Dream Card that captures your favorite houses, rooms, and designs.

This is just the beginning. See below for our roadmap.

  • Advertising at first, then lead programs* to connect influencers and brokers. Once we attain enough scale to drive statistical significance in hyperlocal locations, we expect to make money by selling reports and data dashboards — predictive social real estate data — to brands, brokers, and service providers, sales we believe will create financial dividends for our users. We will also make it possible for users to sell homes to one another, but our true goal is the creation of a community whose data becomes the foundation of a new, user-based system of real estate record for the digital age.

  • Please see the following sections:

    1) Onboarding and adding rooms
    2)  Getting around the feed
    3) Building your home profile
    4) Sharing your Dream Homes

  • Enter your home address (not your email ) from the first screen. You’ll be taken through a series of prompts asking you to validate your address on the map./

If you have any difficulty claiming your address — no matter whether you are a buyer, seller, or renter — please contact us immediately via support@homesy.us so we can register you by email.

After you have registered and claimed your home, please take a minute to answer the room questionnaire asking which and how many rooms your home actually has. We get this data through publicly available records, but we find nearly half the time, this publicly known room allocation is incorrect. Feel free to skip this screen, but correcting the public record will make profiling the rooms in your home profile much simpler.

Note too that from this screen, you’ll have a choice to go directly to the feed or plunge deeper into building your profile. Either way, you’ll always have the choice to add/delete rooms as needed.

Although we haven’t yet deployed our point program (KEYS)*, note that the more you post, comment, favorite, add rooms to your profile, create dream houses/cards, etc., the more your home will be visible throughout the site.

    Visibility = Value.

  • — Click on the Homesy logo to get back to the feed from anywhere on site.

    — Add posts, comments, favorite posts, and discover homes in real time.

    — Filter the feed by clicking on the Filter button next to the comment bar to filter by Looking to Buy, For Sale, or Rooms. (Geo-location coming soon.*)

  • Navigate between rooms by clicking the + sign and swiping through each room. We like to think of it as if you were walking between the rooms of your house.

    — Click the profile icon to visit My Home Profile for your home.

    — MAIN is the profile section that represents all the property details of your home.

    — Edit property details by clicking DETAILS.

    — Each room (bathrooms, living rooms, kitchens, etc.) has its own feed.

    — Edit room details of every room including windows, ceiling heights, floor material, closets, etc. on each room page

    — Add photos, measurements, and additional details separately for each room.

    — Photos must be under 5MB PNG or JPG. HEIC photos are not supported.

    — Add or subtract rooms, by clicking the word DETAILS on the MAIN page of your home profile.

    — Share your profile to the feed or to other users by hitting the outward facing arrow. Note that at present you can only share individual profile items.

  • Dream Home cards are built from collections of photos you add to your My Dream Home area. Add photos to your Dream House gallery at any time. Whenever you’re ready to share, create a “card” of up to 3 photos to share on Homesy or other platforms.

    Adding photos to the Gallery

    — Navigate to My Dream Home through your profile image.

    — Click Manage images to add photos from your camera roll. Images must be smaller than 5MB. Supported image formats include JPG/JPEG and PNG. HEIC and videos are not supported at this time.

    Creating a Dream Home card

    — IMPORTANT: Select the room (at the bottom of the screen) before selecting the photos for each room. Supported rooms are Living Rooms, Bedrooms, Baths, and Kitchens. When finished click Done at the top of the screen.

    — On the next screen, select up to 3 images for your dream home card.

    — Add comments and descriptions to your card. “I’m looking to (buy, renovate, sell, or add your own).” Add a comment about why you love this home, number of bedrooms and/or bathrooms, and location.

    — Share to the Homesy feed or your social networks, copy the url to the card, or save without sharing.

  • Most of it is from ATTOM, a widely regarded real estate database culled from public mortgage and neighborhood records, but we hope to expand that source soon to build a large language model — including your profiles.*

  • o protecting your privacy and safety to our fullest extent.

To ensure that everyone feels welcome, safe, and treated with kindness and respect on Homesy, we’ve published Community Standards outlining clearly defined expectations about what is and isn’t allowed here. Above all, we follow all Fair Housing Act guidelines prohibiting housing discrimination because of:

    — Race

    — Color

    — National Origin

    — Religion

    — Sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation)

    — Familial Status

Read more about the Fair Housing Act.

  • Not everyone feels comfortable being open about their home. We get it. That’s why we’re making it possible to control the privacy of any post. Click the X button to toggle all the posts, photos, comments you want to keep private. Please note that private posts are not counted in KEYS or home visibility algorithms.

We also welcome anonymous posting. Go to your User Profile by touching on the photo on the upper right, and create an alias name. You will also be able to “generalize” your address to a zip code.
